The Hardware tab in the Perry Weather mobile app lets you check your on-site equipment, test it, send a PA message, and run a trigger on demand from your phone. Inside it, switch between Hardware and Triggers. For more on custom triggers, see Setting up Custom Warning System Triggers.
Please note that this feature is only for Admins, Limited Admins, and Owners.
Testing your sirens and strobes
- Open the On-Site Hardware tab, and open a unit.
- Tap Run Hardware, then Test Hardware.
- Choose the unit you want to test (you can select more than one), then tap Next.
- Select the tests you want to run: the siren, the PA message, or the strobe. On a Visual Alerting System unit (previously called a Multi-Strobe), each strobe color is listed as its own component, so select the colors you want to test. Tap Run Test.
- Confirm what you hear and see on site matches what you selected.
- To end a test that is still running, tap Stop Test on the same screen.
Note: Audible alert time windows do not apply to manual tests - you can run a test at any time to make sure your hardware is working.
Sending a PA message
- Open the unit from On-Site Hardware → Hardware.
- Tap Run Hardware, then Send a PA Message.
- Choose a saved message from the list, or type a custom message. Saved messages come from the message library you build on the web dashboard. See How do I create my PA message library?.
- Choose how many times the message should play.
- Tap send. The message plays on the selected unit.
Running a trigger from your phone
Triggers cause your hardware to fire when a policy activates. You build and edit them on the web dashboard; on mobile you can run, monitor, reorder priority, enable or disable, and delete them. You cannot create or edit the siren/PA/strobe/relay configuration in the app.
- Tap the Triggers tab under On-Site Hardware.
- You will see a card for each trigger in your account. Tap one to open its detail screen and see what it will do and which units it affects.
- If the trigger is set up to run manually, activate it from its detail screen (Activate a Trigger).
Policy triggers fire on their own when a policy is breached. See triggering hardware from any weather policy. Manual, scheduled, and recurring triggers are covered in setting up a custom warning system trigger.
Firing a named relay
If your account has StormBridge or relay-only units, open the unit from Hardware, open StormBridge, and toggle the relay you need by name. Relay actions are recorded in the unit's event log, so you can confirm afterwards which output actually switched. See Using StormBridge.
