Can I get alerts for tornadoes & other severe weather threats?

Yes. Perry Weather delivers National Weather Service alerts through a policy, where you choose which hazards you want and how urgent an alert has to be before it reaches your team.

Setting up National Weather Service alerts

  1. Open the Policies page and click New Policy.
  2. Enter a Policy Name, then choose National Weather Service as the weather variable.
  3. Under Select Alert Types, choose the hazard categories you want: Fire, Flood, Hurricane, Marine, Severe Weather, Heat, Wind, Air Quality, Winter Storm, Geological and Dense Fog. Expand a category to see the individual National Weather Service products it covers.
  4. For each category you selected, set a Severity Level. The four levels, from narrowest to broadest, are Warning, Watch, Advisory and Statement. Each level includes every alert at that level and above.
  5. Under Receive Notifications for:, choose whether your team hears about an alert when it is issued, when it expires, or both.
  6. Under Assignments, choose the Locations this policy covers and the User Groups who should receive it. At least one location is required. Click Save Policy.

If you are set up but not receiving alerts

Check National Weather Service Bulletins in your mobile app alert types. Switching it off mutes National Weather Service alerts for that person even while the policy is firing, and it is set per user rather than per policy. Your remaining channel and schedule preferences live in notification settings on the web dashboard.
